Fogged glass, drafts, and rising energy bills are the most common reasons homeowners replace windows before selling or renovating. Browse all guides →
When replacement makes sense
If two or more of these apply, a free assessment is worthwhile. Retrofit replacement is often faster and less disruptive than you expect.
- Condensation or fog between glass panes (seal failure)
- Windows stick, won't lock, or won't stay open
- Noticeable drafts or cold spots near frames
- Exterior frame rot, peeling, or water staining
- Single-pane or very old aluminum units
- Outside noise much louder than in newer homes
- Energy bills climbed without other explanation
Repair vs replace
Hardware and weatherstripping can be repaired on newer units; fogged glass and frame damage usually mean full replacement is the better value.
We will tell you honestly if a repair is enough — our goal is the right long-term solution for your home and budget.
